Candles & Melts…..an always evolving journey

My journey into candle making started over 10 years ago when I was given a soy wax candle making kit, from the time I poured the first candle I knew that this craft would be an ongoing part of my world….

I truly love the methodology behind making a high quality candle…perfecting the different temperatures at every stage (which in turn effects hot and cold throw as well as the overall finish of the wax), trialling different fragrance percentages and testing various wicks to ensure a beautiful even burn throughout the entire life of the candle.

Once I had perfected the techniques needed to produce a quality candle (yes, there are hours and hours of testing done before launching any new container or fragrance) I offered my candle & melt creations for sale (Tranquil Days Candles) at the Canungra Valley Markets. Monthly markets and special order wholesale / bulk items allowed me to continue mastering the production of a high end product with every batch poured.

I continued with the markets until a little person entered our world, this meant a pause to working with the fragrances and so, candle making was put on the back burner until about 3 years ago when the time was right to reignite this love of creating.

At this point each candle run is done in small batches which allows time to ensure high quality candle production. The ‘Something Mystical’ (now Mystical Mountain Candles) candle / melt range all have a mystical theme with all of the candles (except the tea-lights) produced in reusable containers. All raw materials and containers are purchased from Australian businesses who specialise in the supply of candle making materials & vessels.

What makes up a candle produced under the Mystical Mountain Candle banner:

Wax used: Summit Wax - Denali (Coconut/soy blend) or Beeswax/coconut oil blend for candles. Ecosoya Pillar Blend for melts.

Candle specific fragrance oils: The fragrance oils used are formulated specifically for use in candle waxes, this ensures stability and quality scent throw.

Wicks: HTP- are cotton wicks which feature braided paper fibres. These wicks have a softer burn and tend to curl slightly as they burn. CDN - are a flat braid style cotton wick and are zinc-free. They can tend to be a lttle more vulnerable to ‘mushroom’ as they burn, requiring a trim after each burn.

Last and most important ingredient: a heartfelt desire to create beautiful candles & melts that perform to a high standard each and every time. It is my aim that the selection of fragrances will entice the senses and subtly fragrance the space with mystical aromas that dance in the air.
